New Safety Railing to Accompany Renovated Bridge at Angkor Wat

SIEM REAP: APSARA Authority is preparing to install a safety railing on the main bridge that has been restored and is set to open on November 4.

Deputy Director General of APSARA Authority, Long Kosal, said that the structure of the West Bridge has been completely repaired and will open soon to national and international visitors who visit Angkor Wat.

He said that the Authority is taking into account the safety of guests who may be so focused on the beauty of the newly renovated bridge and the towers of Angkor Wat, that they may accidentally fall into the water.

He pointed out that the APSARA Authority is preparing to put safety rails on both sides of the bridge, which will be embedded and almost invisible to the naked eye. When approaching, howerver, tourists will be made aware to be extra careful when traveling.

The Deputy Director General added that the floating bridge put in place during the bridge’s construction will remain to alleviate some of the traffic that could erode the stone bridge.
